When it comes to the six children Angelina Jolie shares with ex-husband Brad Pitt, Jolie has a few rules in place to ensure they can live a fairly normal life.
Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox and Vivienne, three of whom were adopted and three gave birth to Jolie, were given a fairly large home.
One of Jolie’s biggest goals is to make sure her children are safe and happy, especially with Pitt’s divorce and the brutal custody battle that the former couple was involved in after their split.
Here are 11 strict rules that Angelina Jolie makes her children follow.
1. Angelina Jolie made sure to take the time to spend time with her children.
In an interview with People, after her divorce from Pitt, Jolie stopped working “for over a year” to take care of her children after the breakup.
“It’s all going to be about the kids,” Jolie explained. “I have not worked for over a year now because they needed me at home. Everything was just stopped.
“I really sit and talk to them because everything affects them. Every place, every type of project, I have to adapt it to what they can handle. »
2. Angelina wants her children to embrace their different heritage.
Jolie’s eldest children, Maddox, Zahara and Pax, were born in Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam respectively. One of the biggest lessons Jolie wants to teach her children is to make sure they know where they are coming from.
“We often travel to Asia, Africa, Europe, where they were born,” the actress told Vogue. “These boys know they’re from Southeast Asia, and they have their food, their music, and their friends, and they have their own pride.”
“But I want them to be just as interested in the history of their sisters’ lands and mother’s land so we don’t start splitting,” she said of her family’s closeness.
“Instead of taking Z on a special trip, we all go to Africa and have fun. »
3. Angelina makes sure to prioritize family therapy.
After Jolie’s divorce from Pitt, the mother of six made sure to prioritize therapy for her children to cope with their parents’ separation.
According to People, a source said Jolie and all her children had begun therapy, “It has been a traumatic situation.”
“It was hard for everyone. They are used to more activities and entertainment, so it is difficult for them to stay at home. The younger ones do not understand what is going on.
4. She wants her children to follow their own passions in life.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jolie shared that none of her children had any desire to be an actress.
While working on the movie “Kung Fu Panda 3”, Jolie once took her children with her to the set, where they provided animal sounds for some of the pandas in the animated film.
“They were a little shy,” Angelina said. “They do not really want to be actors, but I did not want them to miss the chance. They came and had a lot of fun. »
According to People, Jolie said her children are more into humanitarian efforts.
” [They’re into] business, humanitarian affairs, such a thing.
5. Children have cybersecurity experts who monitor their online presence.
Jolie has only recently set up an Instagram account, but for a very long time she had a sparse presence on social media.
“It’s so beyond what we understand,” Jolie said of herself and ex-husband Brad Pitt in 2014, according to Business Insider. “We did not even want to know what to look for.”
The former couple decided to hire “a cybersecurity team to monitor the Internet and social media content that their children encounter,” according to People.
6. Angelina strictly teaches her children instead of going to primary school.
According to People, Jolie made the important decision to have her children homeschooled because she wanted them to learn more than they wanted in elementary school.
“It bothered me how little I was taught in school,” Jolie said.
“I worry about my children’s education. I’m homeschooled, partly because they’re from all over the world, and that’s a lot … I did not want them to have the same education that I had in Vietnam or Cambodia.
“They have teachers for all kinds of subjects, including different languages and instruments. Children are also very physically active. They love football and love skateboarding, and they also take self-defense courses,” a source added.
7. Angelina can not interrupt children’s calls with Brad Pitt.
According to People, a judge gave Pitt unlimited phone access to his children in the middle of the custody battle between him and Jolie.
Pitt should be allowed to have each child’s cell phone number and can text and call with them without Jolie’s supervision.
In the court documents, the judge notes that the children “not having a relationship with their father is harmful to them”, adding that “it is important that each of them has a healthy and solid relationship with their father and mother”.
8. Angelina plans time to spend time with each of her children individually.
Jolie finds it extremely important that she takes the time out of her busy day to spend one-on-one time with each of her six children.
“I plan individual time with each of the kids like crazy,” Jolie told Vogue via The Indian Express.
According to E! News, Jolie brought her eldest son Pax as a guest to the Golden Globes in 2018 to spend some quality time with him.

According to People, Jolie and Pitt are extremely strict when it comes to their children’s access to information about them.
“On all the kids’ computers, our names were blocked,” Pitt said. “They can not google their mother and father. I do not want to make myself dependent on what other people think.
10. Angelina encourages her children to learn more languages.
“All children learn different languages,” Jolie said, according to US Weekly.
“I asked them what languages they would learn, and Shi teaches Khmai, which is the Cambodian language, Pax focuses on Vietnamese, Food has switched to German and Russian, Z speaks French, Vivienne really wants to learn Arabic and Knox learns sign language.
“I guess it just means you do not know who your children are until they show you who they are and they just become who they want to be,” she added.
“It was my dream. They are interested in other cultures.
11. Angelina supports her children in terms of their gender identity.
Jolie announced in 2010 that her oldest biological child, Shiloh, had wanted to be called John instead since they were two years old.
John has been wearing suits and other mismatched clothes for years, and Jolie even opened up to embrace her child’s gender identity in a Vanity Fair interview.
“She wants to be a boy,” Jolie said. “So we had to cut his hair. She loves to wear everything related to boys. She thinks she’s one of the brothers.”
It is unclear how Jolie’s fourth child identifies.
