The La Viouze cinema in the Ancizes (Puy-de-Dôme) changes opening hours

From 1 June, the number of screenings in the “La Viouze” cinema in Les Ancizes will change. This is one of the decisions taken by the elected representatives of Combrailles, Sioule and Morge, who met last Thursday night in Manzat.

In fact, the inter-municipal structure since 2017 has been confronted with a decline in attendance despite the investments made – replacement of seats -, the events offered or new schedules. A phenomenon exacerbated by the Covid crisis despite 16 weekly screenings offered over six days (the cinema is closed on Tuesdays).

11 sessions are offered

Hence the various proposals made by the CSM Culture Committee on 11 April. First, the reduction in the number of weekly sessions: 11 sessions per week outside school holidays, ie. a session Monday, Thursday and Friday evenings (20.30 pm); two sessions on Wednesday (16.30 and 20.30); three sessions both Saturday and Sunday (15.00, 17.30 and 20.30).
During the holidays, 15 sessions will be offered (two sessions on Monday, Thursday and Friday at 16.30 and 20.30 and three sessions on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 15.00 and 17.30 and 20.30) with one aimed at young audiences and families.

Finally, for the winter holidays and the end of the year, the transition to 21 weekly sessions (three sessions over 7 days, from Monday to Sunday, at 15.00, 17.30 and 20.30. For this last period, the programming must also take into account the holding of “Gamins de la Viouze “festival and end of year programming for young audiences.

Diversify space activities

The other measures would concern the reintroduction of the closure period for the first two weeks of September; additional programming on extraordinary events (50 views per year); continuation of the reflection in order to expand and diversify the activities of the room, especially towards the reception of cultural shows or the dissemination of events such as the Olympic Games, with additional facilities (sound, light and backstage). With these new principles, human resources would go from two full-time equivalents to 1.6 full-time employees.

Complementarity to find

“Today, programming is not attractive. Maybe a little more Arthouse movies are needed, ”said Maryse Lefour (Saint-Georges-de-Mons). “Today, the most-watched films at Ciné Dômes or Arcadia are bought by CSM,” said President Sébastien Guillot. So yeah, they might not suit some people, but I do not want people to say tomorrow that a movie released in Clermont is not available on Les Ancizes. I think we need to complement them. »
