Wednesday, May 25, was International Missing Children’s Day. The possibility of returning to the disappearance of these minors, more than mysterious …
Children disappear every year and some of them are never found. On the occasion of World Missing Children’s Day, Wednesday 25 May, the Children’s Rights Fund has mobilized to once again warn the public about these mysterious disappearances. While some cases are resolved quickly, others give investigators a hard time.
In France, a large number of children who have disappeared have still not been clarified. Yannis Moré, Marion Wagon or even Estelle Mouzin, we come back to these cases of more than ten years that have never been clarified.
Yannis Moré, who died in 1989
Yannis Moré enjoys building a cottage with his brothers in front of his house in the village of Ganagobie. At the time 3 years old, he suddenly disappeared on the morning of May 2, 1989. A year later, investigators found his clothes, his shoes and his chain not far from the scene of the disappearance. These clues confirm the hypothesis of an abduction. Investigators are actively looking for the little boy, but he is still untraceable and still is today.
Marion Wagon, disappeared in 1996
This 10-year-old girl has long been nicknamed “the milk carton’s granddaughter”. Her picture had been posted on millions of packages to find her. Marion Wagon disappears in Agen in Lot-et-Garonne on November 14, 1996. While she only has 400 meters to walk from school to reach her home, the granddaughter will not succeed. never.
Between investigators and several summonses of witnesses, the girl is never found. In April 2021, the case was taken over by a new investigating judge, who ordered new DNA samples to see if the case could be linked to Michel Fourniret. Again, the research is not unequivocal. This case has just been handed over to the judges of the new “cold case” department.
On the 24th, W9 sent a documentary about the grandson. Michel Wagon has for the first time agreed to return to his daughter’s disappearance. Master George Catala, lawyer for the deceased’s parents, finds hope: “We have a chance. More roads are being investigated”he said in the southwest.
Cécile Vallin, disappeared in 1997
Cécile Vallin was last seen on a secondary road at the exit of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne in Savoie, where she lived. As a 17-year-old, she had to pass her matriculation exam the day after her disappearance. At the time, we think it was a runaway. But the investigation was never able to determine under what circumstances the young teenager disappeared. As for Marion Wagon, checks were made to find out if a connection could exist with Michel Fourniret, who was present in Savoie at the time. Unfortunately, this lead did not come to anything.
Estelle Mouzin, disappeared in 2003
If the little girl’s disappearance seems to have found an answer with Michel Fourniret’s confessions, the failure of the last excavations and the serial killer’s death leave an aftertaste of unfinished business. 21 years after the disappearance, the body of Estelle Mouzin has still not been found.
The grandson, who was 9 years old at the time, disappeared on January 9, 2003, on his way between school and his home. The weather conditions are complicated, the snow makes any search for footprints impossible. According to Monique Oliver, the serial killer’s ex-wife, the latter had kidnapped, kidnapped and raped the little girl. All this would have happened in the killer’s house in Issancourt-et-Rumel. Traces of partial DNA from Estelle Mouzin had been found there on a mattress.
Last fall, following Michel Fourniret’s confessions, investigators conducted the final excavations to find the body in the presence of Monique Olivier. Unfortunately, the searches showed nothing.
Mathis Jouanneau, who died in 2011
In 2011, 8-year-old Mathis Jouanneau disappeared in Mondeville, near Caen, in Calvados. Sylvain Jouanneau, his father, who was to bring him back to his mother at the end of the day, could not be found. Finally it is located in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon in Gard. He ended up admitting that he had left with Mathis. He was arraigned in 2015 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for kidnapping and forced imprisonment. However, he would never say where his son was.
Ten years after Mathis Jouanneau’s disappearance, a new leader relaunches the investigation following the broadcast of an episode of Calls for Witnesses on the M6 on September 19, 2021. Three witnesses claimed to have seen a homeless person in the streets of d’Avignon, very similar to the old portrait of Mathis. At present, the investigation has not made it possible to determine whether it really is the missing little boy.
