Test, opinion and presentation of the smartphone

At the moment, the Realme brand is making a lot of noise. Between the latest releases in smartphones and its future devices, the dates of which are imminent, it seems clear that the brand wants to besiege all segments of mobile telephony.

A reality that becomes even more concrete thanks to its latest device: the Realme GT Neo 3. What are the advantages of the latter? Is it a good choice for everyday use? This test will give you the answer.

Focus on the Realme brand

Needless to say, the Chinese manufacturer REALME has decided to launch itself into the already saturated mobile phone market at all costs. His policy: to energize the market by lowering prices. What we forget to tell that things change a bit is that REALME belongs to the BBK ELECTRONICS juggernaut, which is already well established in the market.

She is just a foal of this giant who feeds her and makes her grow. Needless to say, REALME has the money and backing behind it. It uses some technologies of the OPPO brand. The core objective of the BBK group is young people. Provide access to powerful smartphones at a lower cost.

They are now well established in the market and want to compete with the well-known XIAOMI, whose spearhead is the same niche. The two competitors are in the process of multiplying model releases to appeal to as many people as possible and increase sales. There are the REAL ME 8, 9, 9 PRO PLUS, the GT MASTER EDITION, the GT 2, the GT 2 PRO, the GT and also the one we are going to test today, the GT NEO 3…

In addition, the brand has taken the most time to diversify by offering headphones, the REAL ME BUDS AIR 3, I have not had the opportunity to test them, but I have received very good feedback on the quality of its headphones .

The product is very well packed, the cardboard is stiff. When unpacking we find the phone, the charging cable, the power supply (very heavy) that I specify equal to a 150 W charge, it surprised me, I must admit. In addition, a transparent protective case is offered and a user manual that has been translated into many languages.

The product

Before starting the smartphone test, I delved into the communication strategy of the brand, which chose not to have access to the charging speed of this phone. We’ll see with use but it promises to be beautiful.

The Realme GT NEO 3 is a smartphone that is positioned as a mid to high-end model. It has a Mediatek Dimensity 8100 SoC. The screen is AMOLED includes the technical principle of:screen LCD at the level of individual pixel control, but without the backlight. 12 GB RAM, 256 GB storage, triple photo module with a total of 50 Mpx and a battery from 4500 mAh.

Ergonomics and design

The design is not ultra original, in fact it is quite classic, similar to the other models of the brand. This one is black but there is a more original blue model reminiscent of car racing, it is the color “Nitro blue”. I really like the back of the phone in metallic paint, you could almost see some glitter on it (it’s my girlish side speaking

Thanks to him, we avoid fingerprints that are too intrusive. As for the dimensions, we are on a laptop of 163.3 x 75.6 x 8.2 mm with a weight of 188 grams, it is light but if you look at it that way, it is much more impressive.

I’ve never held a smartphone in my hands with such an imposing screen, it’s over 6.7 inches and takes up almost the entire front of the phone. The screen refresh rate is very good, up to 120Hz (reminder for beginners: Your screen refresh rate is the number of times per second the screen can display a new image.

I also really liked the color rendering of the device, but I voluntarily switched from the “vivid” mode to the “natural” mode in the settings, for a slightly more realistic representation with reality. The fingerprint reader works responsively, but I find it a bit low and it’s a bit tedious for me to use.

Features and interface full of surprises

5G compatible, it also has the NFC chip (System a short-range, high-frequency wireless communication technology, which allows the exchange of information between devices up to a distance of about 10 cm), it also has WIFI 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.

On the other hand, no seal certification present on the guide of the device, no mini-jack port and no port for the microSD. It doesn’t bother me as I’m not a game and video addict, but for some it might be. As for the sound coming out of the speakers, no disappointment, it’s quite clean and clear.

They bring with them the Dolby Atmos and Hi Res audio systems. The features are not lacking, you can do almost everything, change everything, change everything, customize everything; You can even go as far as measuring your heart rate by pressing the digital heart rate sensor with your thumb.

I had already mentioned it at the beginning of the test, the Realme GT Neo 3 is equipped with a dimensity 8100 chip. This chip is a real revolution among mobile manufacturers because it offers a graphics unit, energy efficiency, l intelligence, camera and connectivity .

Also note the 12 GB of RAM and the 256 GB of storage which gives flexibility in use. The pages open with great efficiency and I navigate from one to the other without any difficulty, which is very noticeable. The startup of the mobile is very fast.

As always on REALME, the applications available on the phone’s home screen are impressive, I counted 42 in total just for fun! I have to admit it annoys me a bit, it’s a cacophony of all sorts of uses, some of which are useless. It’s up to you to decide whether to clear your screen or not!

Here we have a triple module consisting of a 50 Mpx wide-angle IMX766 module with an f/1.9 aperture lens, then an 8 Mpx ultra-wide angle, as well as a final 2 Mpx module that will be used to take very close-up shots to the subject. In order to get a true representation of the different shooting features, I decided to take the same photo using three different modes.

The first tests are very convincing, the photos are balanced, very clear and what strikes me most about this phone is the colorimetry, it is really high quality and this is not always the case in the market! Culinary photos seem to me an excellent way to testify to this.

For medium to low light shooting, the Sony IMX766’s omnidirectional phase-detection autofocus for all pixels of the Sony IMX766 image sensor allows focusing with one of over 50 million pixels. Thanks to the power of the Dimensity 8100’s Imagiq 780 image processor, the GT NEO 3 can process images even faster in less than a second.

This way you can quickly capture moments, even in difficult lighting conditions. Here a 16 Mpx front sensor whose lens opens at f/2.5. If you stand still, you can take good selfies. The level of detail is crazy and I’m a fan of this color :=) As for the night shots, they are good, but less than the day shots, the colorimetry is also much worse.

Day or night, the passage on 50 MP mode didn’t really convince us. There are more details to improve, but the storage and file size is too large. The ultra-wide angle module is not nearly as high-quality as the wide-angle lens, but produces a fairly fair representation in good lighting conditions. You can see all the elements of the scene, don’t even expect a good level of detail, it’s very difficult.

It is not surprising that the result in the dark is far from convincing, as is the case with many devices. I really liked the previously unknown mode on other cell phones, street photography modeit is fully personalized and adapts to the context with DIS snapshot, focus and fast zoom. Lots of options, filters, I can’t live without. I will continue to use this mode.

The video module:

The main sensor can film in 4K and Full HD at 30 fps. The result is really good. The image benefits from a good contrast ratio and a high level of detail. The colors are slightly more intense than in reality, but not really disturbing. On the other hand, I did not like the display with the ultra-wide angle module.

Autonomy and charging speed

I had insisted on the brand’s commercial speech praising the merits of charging the phone. As for the battery, two variants are offered: a 5000 mAh compatible 80 Watt fast charger and a 4500 mAh compatible “150 Watt Ultra Dart Fast Charge” where the brand charges to 50% in 5 minutes.

The laptop is really good in terms of durability, with heavy use I could last a whole day without charging it. And this point is the MOST REMARKABLE thing about this phone. It charges at lightning speed, it’s impressive.
