The Bridgerton Chronicle: Regé-Jean Page back in season 3?

After going The Bridgerton Chronicle at the end of season 1, Regé-Jean Page was conspicuous by his absence in season 2 of Netflix’s flagship series. But now a new rumor is emerging: The actor could very well be back in season 3 of the series.

The Duke may be back! No, nothing to do with the movie The great Lebowski by the Coen brothers, released in theaters in 1998, but by next season of The Bridgerton Chronicle, a pastel and vintage pop series from Netflix that triggers crowds. The character Simon Basset, embodied by actor Regé-Jean Page, had therefore mystified the subscribers of the global streaming giant during the first season of the show in December 2020. And not just because of his complex love story with Daphne Bridgerton (played by rising star Phoebe Dynevor ), but also and above all thanks to her charisma and her undeniable beauty.

Regé-Jean Page left La Chronique des Bridgerton in 2021

But despite the huge success of the beginning of the series, Regé-Jean Page had made an unexpected decision: while The Bridgerton Chronicle is renewed for another season, he will not be part of Queen Charlotte’s court and prefers to leave the series. In an interview with variety at that point, he explains that he signed his contract with the idea that the series would end after one season:

“I thought, ‘This is interesting,’ because it felt like a limited series. I can participate, I can contribute, and then the Bridgerton family goes on. (…) I just feel that enthusiasm and wish The Bridgerton Chronicle must conquer the world. But it is also important to wrap these stories and end on a high note. “

A mistake ? Maybe. After going The Bridgerton Chronicle, the British-Zimbabwean actor seems to be struggling to find a project worthy of the name. If he is largely expected by bookmakers across the channel to take over the role of James Bond after Daniel Craig, the ax has still not fallen. At the same time, he only got supporting roles in two blockbusters: The gray manfrom the Russo brothers, planned for 2022, and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Thievesfor 2023.

Without him, The Birdgerton Chronicle seems to be doing (very) well, with a season 2 that, according to Netflix, achieves even better audiences than the first, for a Duke of Hastings who is conspicuous by his absence but who is still mentioned by the various characters. In the case of. To restart his career, which is running out, there is no solution for Regé-Jean Page. Returning to the show that made him famous? Not so absurd.

Regé-Jean Page soon back in La Chronique de Bridgerton?

That the fans of the series and the Duke of Hastings are sticking well to their armchair: Regé-Jean Page could not be done with The Bridgerton Chronicle. It’s a rumor that comes straight from the UK, passed on by the – not always reliable – tabloid The sun and could well announce the actor’s return in season 3 of the hit show from Netflix. A source from the British newspaper reveals:

“Regé-Jean has always been very clear about his intention to leave the show after the first season and move on to other projects. But recently there has been a dialogue between him and the directors of the show. Has not yet been officially agreed, but keep an eye out.”

Information must of course be taken with tweezers as it is a rumor. Whether the Duke of Hastings returns to the screen or not, season 3 of the season series will still focus on the relationship between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington, aka Lady Whistledown (Nicola Coughlan). No change there.

Other than that actually … no?

But suddenly this rumor could be nothing but a substance of inventions. Wednesday, June 22, while celebrating his reunion with another actor from The Bridgerton Chronicle, Jonathan Bailey, star of season 2, Regé-Jean Page posts a snapshot on his Instagram account to mark the occasion. In the caption he writes: “The boys are back in town”. But that’s not all. As he takes the opportunity to respond to this famous rumor. The actor announces:

“No, I’m not coming back to the series by the way. This one, the newspapers invented it.”

This should disappoint fans of Regé-Jean Page, who were happy for a possible return of the actor in the series. Hoping that this rumor does not lower his popularity rating among English bookmakers for his possible arrival at the next James Bond.
