Pénélope Roy and Dominic Lacroix are both involved in the missing persons task force investigative documents. Very empathetic and attentive to the victims and their relatives, they work well together. Over time, it becomes clear to everyone that they are much more than colleagues…
It’s in the series Amber Alert that we met Dominic Lacroix (Charles-Alexandre Dubé) for the first time. He was always there to support Valérie Sénéchal (Madeleine Péloquin), who lived through long days of anguish after the disappearance of her two sons. When the series resumes under the name ofWarnings, Pénélope Roy (Catherine Bérubé), a criminologist and psychologist from the Victim Support Unit, joins the team of the special squad for missing persons, where she is encouraged to work closely with Dominic. We immediately feel that Pénélope and Dominic know each other well and appreciate each other very much.
The time of reconciliation
The arrival of Penelope is a good thing for everyone. She has great qualities and her ability to listen is good for the victims and their relatives. Hugo Champagne (Éric Robidoux), Pénélope’s ex-husband, is also called upon to collaborate regularly with the team. Penelope and he have not been together for a while, but they are very close and share custody of their daughter, Mia (Marilou Forgues). The disappearance of a young girl whom Mia knows well is also one of the investigations that the special squad is working on.
Everyone gets to know Penelope and appreciates her very much. However, Dominic sees more in her than a colleague or even a friend. Penelope really pleases him, and we learn at a certain point that they sometimes see each other outside of work. Dominic is shy and reserved and fears going too fast or rushing Penelope. He prefers to take his time and give her all the space she needs to live her family life. It’s true that Mia is the most important person to Penelope, and she’s not sure she’s ready to let a new man into her life—let alone her daughter’s.
one step at a time
Dominic sometimes finds it difficult to find his place between Penelope and Hugo, who are very close and there for each other. Although he has no doubt that Penelope is no longer in love with her ex, the latter remains important to her. Dominic wants his relationship with Penelope to become more serious, but he fears doing too much. Penelope interprets this reservation as a lack of interest. Colleagues and friends will therefore need a good conversation to clear things up and understand how much they care for each other.
At first, Dominic only sees Penelope on the days Mia is with her father. Very quickly, however, he was invited to a first official family dinner, where he met the teenager. The event doesn’t go as well as Penelope and Dominic hoped. The ice is broken, however, and Mia allows herself to be tamed little by little by her mother’s new lover. Dominic never tries to take Hugo’s place and is present and attentive when Mia needs him, which Penelope greatly appreciates.
This is serious!
Dominic is not the kind of man to shout from the rooftops that he is in love. However, his colleagues realize that something is happening between Penelope and him. Once his shyness is overcome, he feels comfortable with Penelope and takes more and more initiatives in their relationship. No relationship is perfect, but Penelope and Dominic boast that their couple is doing really well and that they are able to talk to each other when things go wrong. Work, stress and everyday life sometimes affect their mood without the relationship suffering. Will the arrival of Dominic’s mother next season change anything?
