FOOTBALL – Titi Buengo: “We have missed this group life for two years”

American coach Camon Titi Buengo takes stock of the many changes that have taken place in the offseason. After the sporting failure last year, the idea of collective returns to the center of the priorities.

How is the preparation going?

We started on July 19th, we attack the third week. I am happy to have Cherif Belhadj (physical trainer) because he gives gas to the children’s legs. The preparation is difficult, so at the moment the games are not the most important thing for us. There will be a time for that, the goal is to bring the entire workforce to a very good athletic level. In three weeks we can start to be better in our way of playing.

This year I will spend a lot of time on tactics. It’s something we didn’t work on much last year. Everyone has to know what to do on the field when we have the ball, the moves and the moves for the loss.

You have many players to integrate more this year…

That’s what I like about being a coach. Every year there is renewal. You prepare a good dish, you don’t know if it is good or not, but in your preparation you try to put the ingredients you need to make people happy when you serve them.

I’m happy for the players who left R1 to play higher because they deserve it.

There have been many departures anyway…

Usually, many players have had good wishes. I am happy because each player finds his balance and the path he has set out to aim for. I’m happy for the players who left R1 to play higher because they deserve it. This also means that we at Camon work well. We have a keen eye for spotting good players and helping them progress. We are starting another cycle, other players will leave next year, we hope so. There are no regrets, the players don’t belong to a club or a coach, we just go through.

Your entire offensive sector is gone (Touré, Zerdab, Isambart), did you expect that?

We never expect it, then we adapt. Once again, it’s rewarding for the players who have gone to the next level. Now it is up to them to continue to develop and achieve their goals. We renewed, now we have to work, because it is not from one day to the next that we manage to do things correctly.

What matters to me is to put the players at a very good physical level, that’s what we lacked last year. I didn’t have all the players up to par because some trained less than others or weren’t present in the physical sessions. This is the code word for good sailing this year. Players must be at the same physical level.

Jonathan Isambart finds Camon this weekend, in the colors of the Portuguese from Amiens, during a friendly match.

What type of players have you targeted to strengthen yourself?

They are good kids who want to work for the group and make it live. We also missed this group life for 2 years. People came, went. There are many young people there and there is a good connection, I am happy.

You cannot go to war without sharing things, without knowing your partner.

Last year we were older, younger and there was a gap in the middle.

They preferred to bet on young players, whereas at the end of the season they had the idea of taking inspiration from Longueau, who was dependent on experienced players…

You are inspired by Longueau in the sense that it was a close-knit team. There was cohesion. Last year we were older, younger and there was a gap in the middle. By taking younger people, there will be better cohesion because they are from the same generation, they are hungry. They still hope for something from football, so when they come they are 100%. While the elderly no longer make a living from football. This year I had many who worked on the side, they are no longer with the victim, so the behavior of the players also changes.

Everyone really needed a breath of fresh air after the complicated last season…

Yes, there were so many things that happened, stabs in the back… I am very happy to get rid of all that and to be able to work peacefully.

Have you made changes in staff and management?

Yes, I have a physical trainer, Cherif Belhadj, who was not there last year. I picked up Jawad Laasikri who arrived last year. I need to have trustworthy people who I know nothing will happen to, who won’t stab me in the back, who I can work with quietly.

I need to have trustworthy people who I know nothing will happen to, who won’t stab me in the back, who I can work with quietly.

The R1 chicken and calendar have dropped, what do you think?

I am happy to discover new teams because we have been in the same group for three years, we almost always played the same ones. It is motivating.

What are your sporting ambitions?

It’s about moving forward, going for the best, aiming for the lead in the championship. We’ll see, we’ll take it game by game. Before all that, I want to build a group, a core and that this group lives well. Then we’ll see what we can get out of it.

What do you want to put in place game-wise?

Last year we were more in a transition game, but this year we want to vary because we want to be able to have both: players who know how to keep the ball, others who know how to go quickly. We would rather be in reflection, patience, analyze the opponent well and press where it hurts.
